2005.
Prior to purchasing the restaurant, he was employed there for 27 years. Working his way up the ladder, Bob finally fulfilled his dream and is now the proprietor. He keeps the restaurant fresh and innovative by continually changing the menu, almost monthly, as well as changing the restaurant decor, to match seasons and holidays.

Partner and Interior designer Scott Wendt’s vision
was to create a comfortable elegant environment, one which is
desirable for any event. Mr Wendt has restored the historical
architecture to it’s original splendor, enhanced
with romanticism. He describes the Country House decor
as a charming unique backdrop meticulously arranged to
reflect a cozy, inviting interior for your gatherings.
A triumphant combination of accents harmonizes with historic
architecture to create an ambiance of humble elegance.
Scott takes his inspiration from nature, decorating each
room with a floral motif. The baby grand piano in the main
lobby is a focal point which is decorated with objects
to reflect a multitude of holidays and seasonal themes
as is the rest of the house. Exquisite details abound in
each room from the centerpieces to the hand painted murals
and intricate details of the carved gilded fireplace. Upon
arrival you will find you have entered an utterly breathtaking
environment.
The County House will cater your most special events with the quality service that has made us reknowned for decades. Custom menu planning will make your individual party unique and exciting.
The Restaurant, built in 1710, was originally a home and
used as a farm, by the first owner. Throughout the centuries,
it was used for many different purposes such as a stage
coach drop-off. In the 1800's it became home to the famous English actor Thomas
Haddaway. Spiritual seances would be held there, with neighbor William
Sidney Mount trying to conjur up past spirits, a popular
practice at the time. Known to have a ghost of one of the
original owners, our story is now published in the book
"Ghosts of Long Island". Make sure when you are here to have Bob tell you one of his many ghost stories.
in 1970 it became a restaurant known as the "1710 House." In 1975 a it was reopened as the "Haddaway House," and in 1978 it became "The Country House Restaurant."
Whether it be fine dining, a special party or just a night
out, the Country House will make that occasion memorable.
